Notes:
|
In this view from 1901, the Civic Center is very different than today. City Hall and the Tweed Courthouse are the same and the Sun Building is behind them on Chambers Street, but construction has just begun on the new Hall of Records (Surrogate's Court). The old Hall of Records with its Greek edifice is visible in the Park to the right of City Hall. In front of the steps of City Hall, pedestrians stare into the cut and cover subway construction of the City Hall Station.
