The columns in this volume are labeled as follows: Admitted, Name, Age, Where From Born, Complaints, Discharge, Died and Remarks. Complaints include pregnancy, found in street and being lame. Under remarks, many reasons are noted, including "eloped," "sent to asylum" and "on trial." Contained in this ledger are notations as to whether a patient was black. Sometimes these people had only a first name, indicating they were a slave. In some instances, the slave owner is also named. Arrangement is chronological and alphabetical.
