In this early photograph, the existing farm fields in the foregorund are now under the Central Park Lake, the hills behind are now the Ramble and Vista Rock.
Notes:
The drawings in this series (11 of the 12 original submission drawings for the competition to design Central Park) were loaned to the Museum of City of New York by the Department of Parks. In 1988, this series was transferred to the NYC Municipal Archives and is described in accession sheet no. 88-031. The Department of Parks still retains the master Greensward Plan.
